Satellite dish removal in Toronto

Most calls come from one of four places. The house is going on the market and a dead dish bolted to the brick gable is not a look buyers' photos need. A home inspector or a roofer flagged the lag bolts holding the bracket as a spot where water has been finding its way under the shingles or flashing. The satellite provider got cancelled years ago in favour of streaming and the hardware just never came down. Or nobody's watching cable at all anymore and the dish on the roofline is doing nothing but collecting snow load and reminding you it's there.

The roof-leak reason is worth taking seriously even if the dish still technically works. A bracket bolted straight through shingles or brick with the original builder-grade sealant is fine for a year or two — most of these have been up for a decade or more, and old sealant shrinks, cracks and lets water track down the lag bolts into the deck below. We see it most on brick gables and steep roof pitches, exactly where satellite installers liked to put the bracket for a clear southern sky view.

Curb appeal is the other half of it. An empty dish arm hanging off a second-storey gable reads as "nobody's touched this house in years" to anyone walking or driving past — agent photos included. Full removal with colour-matched patching is the cheap fix for that: $179 against a listing-photo problem is not a hard call.

1. Dish off the mount. Unbolted from the bracket and taken down, wrapped if it's still in one piece.
2. LNB and feed arm removed from the dish head.
3. Bracket unbolted from the structure — wall, gable, roof deck or chimney, down to the last lag bolt.
4. Coax cable pulled back to the entry point and capped, or removed entirely if you don't need it.
5. Holes filled and sealed, then colour-matched to the brick, stucco, siding or shingle around them.
6. Dish, bracket and hardware taken away for disposal and recycling — nothing left leaning against the fence.
