Why Muskoka is different

Trees, granite and a cottage nobody visits in February

Muskoka is the part of Ontario where cable simply stops. Past the edge of Bracebridge and Gravenhurst you are on line-of-sight fixed wireless, a tired LTE stick, or nothing — which is exactly the gap Starlink fills. But a Muskoka install is not a Toronto install with a longer drive, and the companies that treat it that way leave a mess behind.

Three things make it its own job. The tree line. Mature white pine and hemlock sit well above most cottage rooflines, and a dish that clears the trees in July can be blocked by snow-loaded branches in January. We survey the actual sky view before we drill, and if the roof will not clear, we quote a gable, pole or short tower instead of installing something that will drop out all winter.

The building. Cottages are timber frame, log, board-and-batten and hundred-year-old additions, not tidy suburban trusses. Cable entries need sealing against ice, carpenter ants and red squirrels, and the fastener that works on an asphalt roof does nothing on cedar shake. We carry hardware for all of it.

The season. Most Muskoka properties sit empty from Thanksgiving to May long weekend. Everything we mount is installed to survive that unattended, and we show you how to shut the system down in the fall and bring it back up in the spring without a service call.

Muskoka FAQ

Straight answers about cottage Starlink

How much does Starlink installation cost in Muskoka?
$449 flat for a standard roof or gable mount, or $549 for a pole or non-penetrating mount. Muskoka sits in our Zone C, so add a $129 travel fee. That is the whole number — quoted in writing before we leave Etobicoke, not adjusted at your door.
My cottage is surrounded by pines. Will Starlink even work?
Usually yes, but placement decides it. Text us photos of the roof and the tree line and we will tell you before booking whether a roof mount will clear the pines or whether you need a gable, pole or short tower to get above them. If the site genuinely will not work, we say so and you pay nothing.
Can you get Wi-Fi out to the bunkie and the dock?
Yes. A whole-cottage mesh add-on starts at $199 and covers the main building plus outbuildings. For a dock or a bunkie at distance we run buried or weatherproof Ethernet at $120 per drop and place an outdoor-rated access point.
Do you install at cottages that are only used seasonally?
Yes, and we mount for it. Hardware is installed to survive a Muskoka winter unattended, cable entries are sealed against ice and rodents, and we show you how to shut the system down in the fall and bring it back up in the spring.
Do I need to be at the cottage during the install?
Someone needs to let us in and approve where the dish and cable go. If you cannot make the drive, plenty of owners have a neighbour or caretaker meet us and we walk you through the finished install over video before we leave.
