Most smart home installs in the GTA amount to someone plugging in a hub, downloading the manufacturer's app, and handing you three different apps depending on which brand you bought. That is pairing. It works, technically, for about as long as nobody touches the router. Programming is different: your lights, shades, thermostat, cameras and locks get reduced to a small set of scenes and schedules that behave the way you actually live — triggered from whichever app, voice assistant or wall switch you already reach for, not the one that was easiest to set up.

That difference is why the flagship credential on this page is not "smart home installer." It is certified AV field engineer & control-system programmer — trained on commercial AV systems and Bell installs before moving into residential work. A control-system programmer thinks in states, triggers and failure modes, the same way a commercial building's lighting and AV system is programmed to survive a power blip or a network reboot without someone driving out to reset it. That is what gets built into a $499 starter, not just a five-device demo.

We are also ecosystem-agnostic. We do not steer you into a platform because it is easier for us — we build on top of whichever ecosystem you already have phones for, or whichever one makes sense for the devices you already own: Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, or a mix that talks to each other through Matter and Thread where the hardware supports it. If your household is split between iPhones and Android, we will say so up front, not sell you a system that only half the house can use.

And this is retrofit-friendly work. We are not asking you to open walls to run low-voltage cable for a house that was framed and drywalled thirty years ago. Almost everything we install runs on Wi-Fi, Zigbee or Thread and mounts into the switch boxes and outlets already in the wall. Where a real wire is unavoidable — a hardwired thermostat with no C-wire, a large motorized shade, in-ceiling audio — we flag it on the walkthrough, before anything gets drilled, and it shows up in the quote in writing, not as a surprise at the door.

Lighting — smart switches, dimmers and bulbs, grouped into rooms and scenes instead of forty individual entries in an app. Motorized shades and blinds — retrofit motors on shades you already own where possible, or new shades where they are not, scheduled to the sun rather than a fixed clock. Thermostats and climate — smart thermostats and, where the system supports it, per-room sensors so the thermostat is not guessing based on the hallway.

Cameras and video doorbells — mounted, angled, connected to your Wi-Fi or a recorder, and folded into the same scenes as everything else (porch light triggers off the doorbell, cameras arm when the last phone leaves the geofence).
